Do you have a question about the Deka DURATION DD5300 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Deka Duration DD5300 is a stackable battery module designed for energy storage in both low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) configurations, suitable for home and commercial applications. It can be used with PV modules and inverter/charge controllers in a solar energy system.

Function Description:

The DD5300 serves as an energy storage system, capable of operating in two distinct voltage configurations:

  • Low Voltage (LV) Configuration: This mode supports voltage ranges from 48.5-58.4 Vdc. It is designed for parallel connections of up to 15 modules per cluster, with a maximum of 7 clusters managed by a DD21001 HUB, totaling up to 105 batteries.
  • High Voltage (HV) Configuration: This mode supports voltage ranges from 200-934.4 Vdc. It is designed for serial connections of up to 16 modules per tower, with a maximum of 9 clusters managed by a DD21002 HV BOX, totaling up to 144 batteries.

The battery module features a Battery Management System (BMS) that monitors and controls its operation, ensuring safety and optimal performance. It includes a RUN button, POWER switch, and OPERATOR PORT for control and diagnostics. The system can be configured for single or multi-cluster setups, utilizing a CAN HUB (DD21001) for LV multi-cluster configurations and an HV BOX (DD21002) for HV configurations.

Usage Features:

  • Dual Voltage Capability: The DD5300 can be configured for either low or high voltage applications, but not both simultaneously. This flexibility allows it to adapt to various inverter voltage ranges.
  • Scalability: The modular design allows for significant scalability, supporting up to 556.5 kWh in LV configurations and up to 763.2 kWh in HV configurations.
  • Installation Flexibility: Modules can be installed in a wall-mount or stack-mount configuration. Wall mounting requires a wall bracket, while stack mounting involves removing the back-side wall support plate and stacking modules on top of each other.
  • User Interface: Features a RUN button, POWER switch, and LED visual indicators for status (e.g., green for normal operation, red for faults). An OPERATOR PORT is available for RS232/USB converter connections for PC software access.
  • DIP Switch Configuration: DIP switches are used to set the address for each module in a cluster, crucial for proper communication and operation. These settings must be configured before connecting power cables.
  • Inverter Compatibility: The manual provides a list of compatible inverters for both LV and HV configurations, along with specific CAN terminal pin-out definitions for various inverter brands.
  • Software Management: WECO BMS PC software is available for both LV and HV systems (DD5300 and DD21002 HV BOX, respectively) for monitoring, setting parameters, and firmware upgrades. A mobile Bluetooth app is also available for monitoring.
  • Safety Features: Includes warnings for proper handling, lifting, installation, and connection procedures to prevent damage, injury, or explosion. The BMS restricts charging at low temperatures and ensures safe operation within specified parameters.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Inspections: Batteries should be inspected and recharged every three months if stored, with a maximum charging current of 0.1C and not more than 50% SOC.
  • Terminal Torque Check: Power cable connections, especially the terminal block, must be checked every three months to ensure proper torque (14 Nm or 10.33 ft lb).
  • Firmware Updates: The WECO BMS PC software allows for firmware upgrades to ensure the system operates with the latest functionalities and improvements.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance on LED indications for various statuses (Start Up, Over/Under Temperature, Firmware Upgrade, Voltage Mismatching, Major Fault, Protection Status) to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Professional Disposal: At the end of their life, these batteries must be disposed of properly by a certified professional company.
  • Technical Support: Users are advised to contact Deka Duration technical service for assistance if the manual does not match the physical product or for any other support needs.
  • Warranty: A 10-year performance warranty is provided, contingent on the battery being used within specified temperature, charge/discharge current, and Depth of Discharge ranges, and connected via a BMS line to an approved inverter.
