4-8 Dell PowerEdge 6100/200 System User’s Guide
The Peripheral Configuration submenu contains the fol-
lowing categories.
Configuration Mode
If this category is set to Auto (the default), the system
peripherals are automatically configured during system
start-up. If you set this category to Manual, the system
peripheral must be configured using the remaining cate-
gories in the submenu.
Standard IDE Interface
Because the Dell PowerEdge 6100 systems only support
SCSI hard-disk drives, this category should always be set
to Disabled.
Floppy Interface
Selecting Enabled (the default) enables the on-board dis-
kette drive controller.
Serial Port 1 Address
Use this category to select a unique address for this serial
port. The options are as follows:
Disabled
COM1, 3F8h (the default)
COM3, 3E8h
COM4, 2E8h
Serial Port 2 Address
Use this category to select a unique address and interrupt
request for this serial port. The options are as follows:

COM3, 3E8h
COM4, 2E8h
Parallel Port Address
Use this category to select a unique address and interrupt
request for the parallel port. The options are as follows:
Disabled
LPT3, 3BCh
LPT1, 378h (the default)
LPT2, 278h
Parallel Port Mode
This category allows you to select from the following
options: ISA Compatible (the default), PS/2 Compatible,
EPP Compatible, and ECP Compatible
.
Parallel Port ECP-DMA
This category is used to set the parallel port DMA chan-
nel if the Parallel Port Mode category is set to ECP
Compatible. This category should be set to Disabled.
Serial and Parallel Port IRQs
The current interrupt request (IRQ) line settings for the
serial and parallel ports are displayed.
Onboard SCSI ROM Scan (SCSI A and SCSI B)
Using the default setting of Enable, the on-board SCSI
host adapter read-only memory (ROM) are scanned dur-
ing system start-up, and any attached SCSI devices are
enabled under DOS. If this category is set to Disable,
SCSI devices attached to the on-board host adapters are
not recognized, but the system resources assigned to the
SCSI host adapters are still reserved.
Console Redirection
This category is used to enable (Port 1 or Port 2) or dis-
able (the default) console redirection to a serial port.
Advanced Chipset Configuration Submenu

you PowerEdge 6100 system, do not change the preset
