component or a blank.
Before working inside your system
Prerequisites
Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
Steps
1. Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals.
2. Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and disconnect the peripherals.
3. If applicable, remove the system from the rack.

4. Remove the system cover.
After working inside your system
Prerequisites

Steps
1. Install the system cover.
2. If applicable, install the system into the rack.

3. Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet.
4. Turn on the system, including any attached peripherals.
Recommended tools
You need the following tools to perform the removal and installation procedures:
Key to the bezel lock
The key is needed only if your system includes a bezel.
Phillips #1 screwdriver
Phillips #2 screwdriver
1/4 inch flat head screwdriver
Torx #T30 screwdriver
Wrist grounding strap
You need the following tools to assemble the cables for a DC power supply unit.
AMP 90871-1 hand-crimping tool or equivalent
Tyco Electronics 58433-3 or equivalent
Wire-stripper pliers to remove insulation from size 10 AWG solid or stranded, insulated copper wire
NOTE: Use alpha wire part number 3080 or equivalent (65/30 stranding).
Optional front bezel
An optional metal bezel is mounted on the front of the system to display system branding. A lock on the bezel is used to protect
unauthorized access to the hard drives. There are two versions of bezel available:
