Back-End Connections for an SC4020 Storage System
Without Expansion Enclosures
When you deploy an SC4020 storage system without expansion enclosures, you must interconnect the
storage controllers using SAS cables. In a single-controller system, do not connect SAS back-end ports to
each other.
NOTE: The top storage controller is storage controller 1 and the bottom storage controller is
storage controller 2.

The following table describes the back-end SAS connections for an SC4020 storage system without
expansion enclosures.

Back-End Connections for an SC4020 Storage System
With Expansion Enclosures
An SC4020 supports up fourteen SC200 expansion enclosures, up to seven SC220 expansion enclosures,
or any combination of
SC200/SC220 expansion enclosures as long as the total disk count of the system
does not exceed 192 disks.
The following sections show common cabling between the SC4020 and SC200/SC220 expansion
enclosures. Locate the scenario that most closely matches the Storage Center that you are configuring
and follow the instructions, modifying them as necessary.
