Set up Storage Center Software
Perform the following tasks to set up the Storage Center software.
1. Connect the storage controllers to the Ethernet management network.
2. Connect to the serial port on the top storage controller.
3. Connect power cables and turn on the storage system.
4. Configure the top storage controller with prejoin information.
CAUTION: Enter the lower HSN when configuring the top storage controller. Entering the
wrong HSN causes the Storage Center deployment to fail.
5. Connect to the serial port on the bottom storage controller.
6. Configure the bottom storage controller with prejoin information.
CAUTION: Enter the higher HSN when configuring the bottom storage controller. Entering
the wrong HSN causes the Storage Center deployment to fail.
7. After both storage controllers are configured, start the Storage Center Startup Wizard and configure
the Storage Center software.
Prerequisites
Before the Storage Center software can be configured, the hardware must be connected, and you must
have the required materials and documents.
Hardware Configuration
All hardware must be installed and cabled before beginning the software setup process.
If server connectivity is through Fibre Channel (FC), the FC switches must be configured and zoned
during the Storage Center setup process.
Required Materials
Serial and network connections to the storage controller are required during different stages of
configuration.
Make sure that you have the items listed in the following table.
