2. Press the Mode buttons to select the level
of assistance: LOW (low assist level), MID
(medium assist level) or HIGH (highest as-
sist level). The assistance changes by one
level each time you press the button. This
works both ways, depending on which of
the Mode buttons you press.
b. LCD control panel:
1. Press the On/O button on the control
panel briey. Wait for two seconds before
turning the pedals. The drive system re-
quires this time to adjust the power sen-
sor correctly. The display comes on.
2. Press the Assist buttons to select the level
of assistance. This works in both direc-
tions. The assistance either increases
or decreases depending on which of the
two buttons you press. If you are in the
“HIGH” mode then press the button again,
you return to a mode without assistance.
Always operate one of the brakes before putting
one of your feet on a pedal as the motor pulls
your bike away immediately. This starting assis-
tance is very convenient, especially when start-
ing on hills. If you start o in road trac or on
unsurfaced roads without controlling your speed,
you could come o your bike and seriously injure
yourself.
Practice starting up in a safe location before
venturing into the road trac.
9. You can now ride o.
2 Pedelec/ndamental legal
principles
Your Pedelec assists you with an output that adapts to
your pedalling force up to roughly 25 km/h.
The essential idea behind the Pedelec is not only to be
able to cover greater distances more quickly, but also
more comfortably. You can choose to relax and let the bike
do the work, exert yourself more physically, or simply get
om A to B as fast as possible. You can decide this your-
self by choosing an appropriate assist level.
This gives you more condence on the road, as the power-
l acceleration gives you more control and a greater de-
gree of security. Your Pedelec assists you with up to 250
watts of power which takes you up to the speed of roughly
25km/h.
The Pedelec, like all other bikes, must comply with the
national regulations for road safety. Please observe the
relevant explanations and general information provided in
the General User Manual.
These statutory requirements apply for a Pedelec:
The motor is designed only to provide pedalling
assistance, i.e. it can only “assist” the rider when
he/she turns the pedals.
The average motor output must not exceed 250 W.
As the speed increases, the rate at which the motor
output reduces must also increase more intensely.
The motor must switch o once the bike reaches a
speed of 25km/h.
