are taking place in the immediate vicinity of the
scaoldbase.
- Ensurethatthescaoldiserectedinaccordance
withtheRinglockTechnicalmanual,Engineer-
ing Solutions (if applicable) or a supplied design
drawing. If the information is not received or if you
areinanydoubt,contactyourCompanymanage-
ment.
- Ensurethatthescaoldisadequatelytiedtothe
building or structure in accordance with the tie
patternsintheTechnicalManual.Duringerection,
ttiesprogressivelyassoonasthespecied
height is reached. When dismantling each tie
should be removed as late as possible and if nec-
essarytalternativemeanstomaintainstability.
- Ensurethatallguardrailsandtoeboardsaretted
to all edges of platforms (including return ends)
whereafallcouldoccur,tocomplywithstatutory
regulations.
- Ensurethatallincompletestructuresaretted
with“DONOTUSE”or“SCAFFOLDINCOM-
PLETE” signs as soon as possible after erection
and before dismantling has commenced.
- A system should be in place to communicate
(suchasascaoldingtagprocedure)whetherthe
scaoldissafeforuse,itsdutyrating/suitability
i.e.access,generalpurposeorheavyduty
- Ensurethatallsparescaoldingcomponentsare
safely and securely stowed or returned to a rack
orcompound.Noscaoldis‘Complete’untilthis
task has been performed.
- Beforedismantlingiscommenced,checkthatall
tiesareinpositionandthatthescaoldissafeto
access.
- Ensure that during dismantling operations a safe
method of work is maintained and that a se-
quence of operations is adopted to ensure that
thescaoldisstableandsecureateachstage.
- Donotoverloadthescaoldwithstoredscaold-
ingcomponentsorothermaterials,whendisman-
tling or re-erecting.
Handling and Storage of Ringlock
Equipment
▪ Wear the appropriate type of gloves to protect your
hands,whenevernecessary.Takeextracarewhen
handing sharp-edged metal components.
▪ Alwayspassscaoldingcomponentsbyhand,or
useaGinWheelandrope.Neverbomb,throwor
allowscaoldingcomponentstofall.
▪ Donotcarryscaoldcomponentsupordownalad-
der.
▪ Ensure all your Ringlock components and equip-
mentareneatlystoredinrelevantscaoldingstill-
ageorscaoldingstoragerack.Stackneatlytono
morethanveliftshigh(localsite/regionalrulesand
regulations apply)
▪ Ensurescaoldingstillage’sandscaoldingstorage
rack are loaded to the approved Safe Working Load
and not overloaded.
▪ Scaoldingstillagesorstorageracksshouldbefork
liftedorcranedontoaatbedtruckfortransport.
Individual or loose items should be stacked into
scaoldingstillagesorstorageracksandwrapped/
strapped prior to loading and transport
▪ Where possible store all equipment in a dry and se-
cure environment.
▪ Visuallyinspectallscaoldingafteruseandarrival
back into storage area. Refer to Technical Informa-
tion and Maintenance Manual for inspection and
quarantine
of components.
▪ Inspectscaoldingequipmentatregularintervals
not greater than 30 days to inspect for general wear
andtear.Allscaoldcomponentsshouldbechecked
prior to erection and use.
▪ If stored in an outdoor environment be careful to
ensure ground stability when stacking and moving
Ringlockscaoldingcomponents.
