- InformyourCompanymanagementifexcavations
are taking place in the immediate vicinity of the
sca󰀨oldbase.
- Ensurethatthesca󰀨oldiserectedinaccordance
withtheRinglockTechnicalmanual,Engineer-
ing Solutions (if applicable) or a supplied design
drawing. If the information is not received or if you
areinanydoubt,contactyourCompanymanage-
ment.
- Ensurethatthesca󰀨oldisadequatelytiedtothe
building or structure in accordance with the tie
patternsintheTechnicalManual.Duringerection,
ttiesprogressivelyassoonasthespecied
height is reached. When dismantling each tie
should be removed as late as possible and if nec-
essarytalternativemeanstomaintainstability.
- Ensurethatallguardrailsandtoeboardsaretted
to all edges of platforms (including return ends)
whereafallcouldoccur,tocomplywithstatutory
regulations.
- Ensurethatallincompletestructuresaretted
with“DONOTUSE”or“SCAFFOLDINCOM-
PLETE” signs as soon as possible after erection
and before dismantling has commenced.
- A system should be in place to communicate
(suchasasca󰀨oldingtagprocedure)whetherthe
sca󰀨oldissafeforuse,itsdutyrating/suitability
i.e.access,generalpurposeorheavyduty
- Ensurethatallsparesca󰀨oldingcomponentsare
safely and securely stowed or returned to a rack
orcompound.Nosca󰀨oldis‘Complete’untilthis
task has been performed.
- Beforedismantlingiscommenced,checkthatall
tiesareinpositionandthatthesca󰀨oldissafeto
access.
- Ensure that during dismantling operations a safe
method of work is maintained and that a se-
quence of operations is adopted to ensure that
thesca󰀨oldisstableandsecureateachstage.
- Donotoverloadthesca󰀨oldwithstoredsca󰀨old-
ingcomponentsorothermaterials,whendisman-
tling or re-erecting.
Handling and Storage of Ringlock
Equipment
Wear the appropriate type of gloves to protect your
hands,whenevernecessary.Takeextracarewhen
handing sharp-edged metal components.
Alwayspasssca󰀨oldingcomponentsbyhand,or
useaGinWheelandrope.Neverbomb,throwor
allowsca󰀨oldingcomponentstofall.
Donotcarrysca󰀨oldcomponentsupordownalad-
der.
Ensure all your Ringlock components and equip-
mentareneatlystoredinrelevantsca󰀨oldingstill-
ageorsca󰀨oldingstoragerack.Stackneatlytono
morethanveliftshigh(localsite/regionalrulesand
regulations apply)
Ensuresca󰀨oldingstillage’sandsca󰀨oldingstorage
rack are loaded to the approved Safe Working Load
and not overloaded.
Sca󰀨oldingstillagesorstorageracksshouldbefork
liftedorcranedontoaatbedtruckfortransport.
Individual or loose items should be stacked into
sca󰀨oldingstillagesorstorageracksandwrapped/
strapped prior to loading and transport
Where possible store all equipment in a dry and se-
cure environment.
Visuallyinspectallsca󰀨oldingafteruseandarrival
back into storage area. Refer to Technical Informa-
tion and Maintenance Manual for inspection and
quarantine
of components.
Inspectsca󰀨oldingequipmentatregularintervals
not greater than 30 days to inspect for general wear
andtear.Allsca󰀨oldcomponentsshouldbechecked
prior to erection and use.
If stored in an outdoor environment be careful to
ensure ground stability when stacking and moving
Ringlocksca󰀨oldingcomponents.
