NOTICE
Always disconnect the flame monitor before removing the cover.
If live printed circuit boards come loose from their plug connectors when removing the
cover, or if removed printed circuit boards are re-connected under live conditions, this
will cause
serious damage
to the electronic components.
If printed circuit boards have come loose, always make sure that the plug connectors
for the printed circuit boards are not re-connected in the wrong order.
NOTICE
When re-attaching the cover, make sure that the printed circuit boards slide into the
guide rails correctly and that the connecting lines are not squeezed.
Standard housing:
The seal between the cover and the middle part must fit fully within the middle part.
Tighten the long screws to attach the cover, so that the cover is flushly in position all
the way round the middle part. (max. torque 0.7 Nm).
Ex-housing
For information on closing the housing, see section 7.4.6 Closing housing M4 and S2
(for zone 1/21) [}60]
1.
Connect the device's internal functional earth in the sub-distribution unit to the pro-
tective earth.
2.
Connect the external protective conductor (min. 4 mm
2
cross-section) separately to
the outside of the housing. For copper protective conductors, use a suitable ter-
minal fitting.
Compensating currents on the earth conductor generate electromagnetic
disturbances
Electromagnetic disturbances (e.g. caused by currents from an ignition device against
protective conductor potential) can impair the function of
flame monitors with metal
housings (housing M4/S2 and M5)
. The electromagnetic disturbances can spread to
the flame monitor via the purge air flange. The D-ZS 117-I isolator can be installed
between the sighting tube and the flame monitor in order to prevent this. A purge air
line made from non-conductive materials should also be used.
Once installed and connected as specified in the dimensional drawings and
connection diagrams, the flame monitor will be ready for operation immediately after
the supply voltage is switched on.
The connecting cable is already wired at the factory inside the device housing. The
connections can be further processed using the connection diagram:
