7 Battery
The GS-60B is fitted with a high capacity lithium thionyl chloride battery. The battery is the main
power source during the meter’s lifetime and powers the meter’s internal electronics including
physical tamper detection.
Basic Specifications
Battery voltage: 3.6V
Battery capacity: 19Ah
Battery size: D cell
Battery type: Lithium thionyl chloride battery
Calculated average lifetime: 15 years
Low battery
When the battery has reached 10% of its original capacity, an alert is generated. This alert is
displayed on the LCD and also sent to the supplier.
On the LCD, the following message is displayed:

Note: After replacing the main battery, the remaining battery (see section 7.3) capacity must be
reset via the Engineering menu to indicate that the battery has been replaced.
Battery Reset
When the battery in the meter is replaced, a command is required to reset the remaining battery
capacity. Hence providing an indication (in the form of an event) to a supplier that the battery has
been replaced.
