16 User Interface Display of Meter Status
The GSME is required to support a meter status flag. In normal operation the flag is not set but
certain conditions cause the flag to be set. There are 4 possible settings:
A Meter not working, replace immediately
b Investigate potential fraud
C Meter working but can have a problem, Read diagnostics requires further investigation
F Replace battery
The details related to each flag setting are shown in the table below

Triggered if GSME is unable to perform prime metrological functions, failure of metrology
chip.

Triggered if tamper is detected.
Cleared when tamper seal is replaced.
Note: Alerts are also sent to supplier on Tamper detection.
Triggered upon logging event ‘Unusual numbers of malformed, out-of-order or unexpected
Commands received, Cleared on a command success.
Negative Flow detected.

C
Triggered if the GSME failed to send the ½ hr snapshots for 24hours. Cleared on a
successful transmission of ½ hourly data.

F
Triggered if battery needs replacing.
Cleared after execution of user interface command Reset Remaining Battery Capacity.
Note: Alerts are also sent to supplier on detection of Low Battery Capacity and Remaining
Battery Capacity reset
If the meter status flag is set this is then displayed on the GSME user interface default main
screen. There is also a priority order to the meter status flag display, whereby a higher priority pre-
empts a lower priority. Where 1 is the highest priority.
