2. Important safety informaon
2.1 Mechanical hazards
CAUTION: LOSS OF STABILITY DURING TRANSPORT
Uncontrolled movement due to incorrect aachment / liing / carrying / rolling or
movement of the vacuum pump. Only use the aachment points and conveying means
described in this manual for vercal and horizontal conveying.
WARNING: EJECTION OF PARTS
Ejecon of parts through bursng of vacuum system due to excessive pressure caused by
incorrect direcon of rotaon. Pressure build-up in the vacuum system or in vacuum
chambers. Check the direcon of rotaon of the vacuum pumps before each start-up,
aer each motor change and aer each electrical connecon change.
Ejecon of parts through bursng of vacuum system as a result of excessive pressure
caused by clogged or constricted exhaust. Pressure build-up in the vacuum system or
exhaust pipes. Do not start up or operate the vacuum system with the outlet closed or
throled.
Ejecon of parts through bursng of vacuum system due to excessive pressure, caused by
faulty funcon at the gas inlet into the vacuum system. Pressure build-up in the vacuum
system or inlet lines. Check correct connecon of inlet and outlet anges before
commissioning. The inlet pressure at the sucon port of the vacuum system must not
exceed atmospheric pressure. If seal gas or gas-ballast from pressure vessels is used,
secure the supply in such a way that no overpressure can occur in the vacuum system in
the event of a fault or power interrupon.
Ejecon of parts through bursng of vacuum system as a result of excessive pressure
caused by the pump running backwards aer it has been switched o under vacuum.
Danger of overpressure in the inlet lines and recipients as well as uncontrolled backward
running of rotors. In the event of a fault or during service, separate the vacuum pumps
from the vacuum vessel and connecng lines before the inlet by means of suitable valves.
WARNING: RISK OF CUTTING AND CRUSHING
Risk of cung and cung o by contact with moving parts such as couplings, shas and
rotors.
Risk of cung and crushing when reaching into open anges or covers.
Do not operate the vacuum pump with open anges or covers. When installing, rst
mechanically connect the inlets and outlets, close the covers of rotang parts and then
make the electrical connecons. Disconnect the vacuum pump from the power supply
before servicing. Only use trained service personnel.
