2. Important safety informaon
2.1 Mechanical hazards
CAUTION: LOSS OF STABILITY DURING TRANSPORT
Uncontrolled movement due to incorrect aachment / liing / carrying / rolling or
movement of the vacuum pump. Only use the aachment points and conveying means
described in this manual for vercal and horizontal conveying.
WARNING: EJECTION OF PARTS
Ejecon of parts through bursng of vacuum system due to excessive pressure caused by
incorrect direcon of rotaon. Pressure build-up in the vacuum system or in vacuum
chambers. Check the direcon of rotaon of the vacuum pumps before each start-up,
aer each motor change and aer each electrical connecon change.
Ejecon of parts through bursng of vacuum system as a result of excessive pressure
caused by clogged or constricted exhaust. Pressure build-up in the vacuum system or
exhaust pipes. Do not start up or operate the vacuum system with the outlet closed or
throled.
Ejecon of parts through bursng of vacuum system due to excessive pressure, caused by
faulty funcon at the gas inlet into the vacuum system. Pressure build-up in the vacuum
system or inlet lines. Check correct connecon of inlet and outlet anges before
commissioning. The inlet pressure at the sucon port of the vacuum system must not
exceed atmospheric pressure. If seal gas or gas-ballast from pressure vessels is used,
secure the supply in such a way that no overpressure can occur in the vacuum system in
the event of a fault or power interrupon.
Ejecon of parts through bursng of vacuum system as a result of excessive pressure
caused by the pump running backwards aer it has been switched o under vacuum.
Danger of overpressure in the inlet lines and recipients as well as uncontrolled backward
running of rotors. In the event of a fault or during service, separate the vacuum pumps
from the vacuum vessel and connecng lines before the inlet by means of suitable valves.
WARNING: RISK OF CUTTING AND CRUSHING
Risk of cung and cung o by contact with moving parts such as couplings, shas and
rotors.
Risk of cung and crushing when reaching into open anges or covers.
Do not operate the vacuum pump with open anges or covers. When installing, rst
mechanically connect the inlets and outlets, close the covers of rotang parts and then
make the electrical connecons. Disconnect the vacuum pump from the power supply
before servicing. Only use trained service personnel.
