5.1 Inial start-up
WARNING: SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Risk of injury or damage to equipment. The operator must apply all relevant safety
precauons. Refer to Safety precauons during operaon on page 12 Safety
precauons during operaon on page 9.
Note:
The pump is supplied lled with oil.
Inial start-up instrucons
▪
Check the process lines for the correct size to prevent high-pressure drop and for
cleanliness to protect the vacuum pump.
▪ Make sure the pump outlet is not obstructed.
▪ Check that the electrical connecons correspond to the applicable codes and that
all wires are clamped ght to their terminals. The installaon must be earthed and
protected against short circuits by fuses of the inert type in all phases. An isolang
switch must be installed near the vacuum pump.
▪ Turn on the voltage and turn it o immediately. For pumps with the three-phase
motor, check the rotaon direcon of the drive motor while the motor is coasng
to a stop. The correct rotaon direcon of the drive motor is indicated by an arrow
shown on the motor fan cowl. If the rotaon direcon of the drive motor is
incorrect, open the isolang switch and reverse two incoming electric lines.
Incorrect rotaon direcon of the drive motor may cause damage to the vacuum
pump.
▪
Start and run the vacuum pump for a few minutes. Check that the vacuum pump
operates normally.
Note:
If you use the vacuum pump for humid applicaons, we recommend that the unit
achieves opmal running temperature before it is put into operaon. This can be
done by running the unit against a closed sucon line for 30 minutes with an open
gas ballast.
Gas ballast locaon and use is indicated on the pump nameplate.
