5. Operaon
5.1 Inial start-up

Risk of injury or damage to equipment. The operator must apply all relevant safety
precauons. Refer to Safety precauons during operaon on page 12 Safety
precauons during operaon on page 9.
Note:
The pump is supplied lled with oil.
Inial start-up instrucons

Check the process lines for the correct size to prevent high-pressure drop and for
cleanliness to protect the vacuum pump.
▪ Make sure the pump outlet is not obstructed.
▪ Check that the electrical connecons correspond to the applicable codes and that
all wires are clamped ght to their terminals. The installaon must be earthed and
protected against short circuits by fuses of the inert type in all phases. An isolang
switch must be installed near the vacuum pump.
▪ Turn on the voltage and turn it o immediately. For pumps with the three-phase
motor, check the rotaon direcon of the drive motor while the motor is coasng
to a stop. The correct rotaon direcon of the drive motor is indicated by an arrow
shown on the motor fan cowl. If the rotaon direcon of the drive motor is
incorrect, open the isolang switch and reverse two incoming electric lines.
Incorrect rotaon direcon of the drive motor may cause damage to the vacuum
pump.

Start and run the vacuum pump for a few minutes. Check that the vacuum pump
operates normally.
Note:
If you use the vacuum pump for humid applicaons, we recommend that the unit
achieves opmal running temperature before it is put into operaon. This can be
done by running the unit against a closed sucon line for 30 minutes with an open
gas ballast.
Gas ballast locaon and use is indicated on the pump nameplate.
