Start your terminal software and set the communications parameters as follows:
19.200 BPS, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit.
When you see the dbg> prompt, give the VER command to display module and
firmware version information. Compare this information with that provided in any
engineering change notices you might have received. This way, you can make sure
that you are working with the right firmware version.
If you need to download a new firmware version, see the instructions provided in
the change notice in question.
Connect the test cable the right way round to the X4 DLOAD-connector.
Never install or remove the module to / from the rack with active
power. Always turn off the rack power first.

5.4.2 Automatic self-tests
When you start using the diagnostics functions and power on the MVB module, it runs
automatic tests to make sure that the module does not have any physical failure. The
result of each test can be PASSED or FAILED. PASSED means that the self-test did
not detect any physical failure in the module. The application software can start only if
all self-tests end with a PASSED status.
After the tests are passed, the module waits for the Gateway CPU module to give it its
address, known as the VME base address. If there is no Gateway CPU or the Gateway
CPU does not give the address, the module will not start up any further but wait forever
at the phase

If you need to access the MVB without a Gateway CPU module, contact
EKE-Electronics LTD for a password you can use in this situation.
After self-tests are run with a PASSED status, the software initializes the module
memory and starts the application. The following text appears on your screen.
