Replacing the Permeation Device
The permeation device has a certification period of one year. The device may
be used longer than this period if a factory certified validation concentration
(C
p
) is not required. Over time the permeation tube will lose the water
contained inside and the validation concentration will begin to drop steadily. At
this point, the permeation tube must be replaced.
Toreplacethepermeationdevice
1. Open the SCS door and block in the sample flow using the diaphragm
valve upstream of the dryer.
2. While watching the cell flow meter, allow all flow to come to zero.
3. Block in the sample cell vent to prevent backflow into the cell and
permeation device.
4. Loosen the connections on the inlet and outlet of the permeation
device.
5. Remove the permeation device.
6. Install the new permeation device, carefully tightening the
connections once in place.
7. From the analyzer keypad, press #2, enter the customer password
(3142) and press the * key.
8. Press #1 to return to Normal Measurement Mode.
9. Open the cell vent valve.
10. Open the sample inlet valve.
11. Close the SCS door.
The flow through the sample bypass may be maintained, if
desired.
