9. Plug the Centurion Communication cable into the back of the Centurion and the back of
the Stratum. See picture below.
10. Most of Tekmar’s recommended Stratum method settings are appropriate. However the
recommended flows for desorb and bake are too high and will make draining and rinsing
the sparge tube difficult. Reduce the flow during desorb and bake to 90-120 ml/ min.
11. The rinse transfer time should be JUST long enough to get all the water into the sparge
tube. Do not make this any longer as additional air flow from the centurion during bake
will only push more water to the purge side of the sparge tube.
12. The drain time should be 30 sec longer than the desorb time. This allows 30 sec of bake
time during which the purge side of the sparge tube will be pressurized so that less water
will go to this side and draining will be easier.
13. The sample rinse drain time needs to be long enough to completely drain the sparge tube.
14. Typically, Tekmar recommends a 4 min bake time. You will only get one rinse
completed in this time. If more than one rinse is required, the bake time will need to be
increased.
