Perform emissions measurement Emission measurement
9.2 Perform emissions measurement
Clean the boiler 3 to 5 days before measuring
emissions.
Thoroughly clean the boiler and flue pipe 3 to 5 days
before the emissions measurement. Once this is
complete, resume heating as usual.
This delay between cleaning and measurement
is necessary in order to allow dust disturbed
during cleaning to settle again. If the chimney sweep
measures unsettled dust, the dust reading will be
higher than normal and thus inaccurate.
CAUTION!
Under no circumstances clean the boiler and flue
pipe on the day of the measurement!
Buffer and boiler must be cold
Before the start of the emission measurement, the
buffer and the boiler must have cooled down to ensure
heat consumption in the heating system during the
emission measurement. Preferably, the boiler should
not be used the night before the emission measure-
ment.
Ensure sufficient heat consumption
Open all radiator valves and turn all radiator and room
thermostats to the maximum.
Switch the heating circuits to continuous "Day"
operation and increase the room target
temperature at the room sensor or in the controller so
the heating circuits will continue to consume heat even
during the transitional period. After measuring
emissions, switch back to the original operating mode
and room temperature.
Use half-metre split logs
Use half-metre split logs for emissions measurement.
The best choice is hardwood with as little bark as
possible, such as beech. Place the logs as close
together as possible in the fuel chamber to fill it as
completely as possible. However, make sure the burn-
through openings in the grate are not obstructed.
Preparing and performing the emissions
measurement
1. In the log boiler overview, press the [Measure-
ment] button in order to open the emissions
measurement settings window.

2. By pressing the [Start now] button, the log
boiler will immediately begin preparations for
measurement after heating up.
Use the [Begin measurement] button to enter
the date agreed for sweeping the chimney. Once
the date has been entered, it will appear in the
boiler overview.
Fig. 9-4: Set date
In addition, the locking time of the log boiler can be
adjusted ( [Lock duration] button). This is based
on the selected measurement time. During this
period, a warning notice will appear that no heating
operation should be started, so that the heating
system has time to cool down.
Example: If a time of 5:00 pm is set for emissions
measurement and a cool-down time of [Lock
duration] 8 h, the warning notice will appear
starting at 9:00 am .
Set the locking time so that the warning
notice will appear already in the morning on
the day of measurement.
3. The log boiler must be heated up with enough time
before the emissions measurement in order to
reach the required operating temperature. Refer to
Table Tab. 9-1: "
required heat-up time" for the
required heat-up time.
