Fuel System
be serviced frequently to assure an adequate sup-
ply of clean, dry fuel to the engines. It is recom-
mended that the lters be inspected periodically
and the elements changed as needed.
There is a primer bulb in each fuel line located
near the fuel lters that is used to prime the fuel
system after service or as required. See Fuel Sys-
tem Maintenance and the engine owner’s manual
for additional information regarding fuel lters and
the outboard engine fuel system.
Notice:
Clean fuel is especially important in fuel in-
jected engines. The engine manufacturer’s
recommendations for fuel lter maintenance
must be followed exactly.
Notice:
The procedure to prime the fuel system on
outboard engines is specific to the type
and model of engines on your boat. You
should refer to engine manufacturer owner’s
manual for the priming procedure for your
engines.
5.3 Generator Fuel System
The generator fuel system is much like the pri-
mary engine fuel system. A fuel shut-off valve
is located on the fuel withdrawal at the fuel tank.
The valve should always be closed before servic-
ing the fuel lter.
The generator draws fuel from the main fuel tank.
The withdrawal tube is shorter than the main
engine withdrawal tubes to prevent the genera-
tor from consuming reserve fuel. Therefore, the
generator will run out of fuel if the fuel level drops
below 1/4 tank.
There is a water separator type fuel lter located
in the mechanical systems compartment near the
generator. Another in-line fuel lter is located on
the generator near the fuel pump. It is recom-
mended that the lters are inspected periodically
and replaced when the main engine fuel lters
are changed.
