8. If the Set feature is being used:
On the 8508A, select Set on the
CALIBRATION Menu.
Use the numeric keys with the
SET VALUE menu to enter the true output value of the
calibrator at the range gain LF point, then press Enter.
9. Press
SAMPLE to initiate the adjustment operation.
Adjustment is complete when the busy legend goes out and the adjusted
measurement is displayed.
10. On the Calibrator, select the Range Gain HF point Output Voltage and Frequency.
11. On the 8508A, press
CAL to enter the Calibration Menu.
12. If the Set feature is being used:
On the 8508A, select Set on the
CALIBRATION Menu.
Use the numeric keys with the
SET VALUE menu to enter the true output value of the
calibrator at the range gain HF point, then press Enter.
13. Press
SAMPLE to initiate the adjustment operation.
Adjustment is complete when the busy legend goes out and the adjusted
measurement is displayed.
Note that HF calibrations are iterative, and repeating the HF adjustment may improve
the result.
14. On the Calibrator, select
STBY to put the Calibrator output into Standby.
15. On the 8508A, select
ACV to revert to the range menu.
Note
During adjustment of the AC Voltage 20V Range Gain LF point, the 8508A
will also derive the DC coupled calibration factor.
Resistance Adjustment
When adjusting the resistance function, each of the resistance modes (Normal, LoI,
TruΩ, TruΩ LoI and HiVΩ) must be individually adjusted. The following procedure
assumes use of a multifunction calibrator and adjusts each resistance mode in turn, range
by range. If individual standard resistors are used it may be more convenient to adjust all
the modes in turn for each resistance value to avoid connecting the same resistance
standard several times during the adjustment sequence. A 1GΩ standard resistor provided
in the 8508A-7000K Calibration kit is used for ranges above 200 MΩ as the highest
resistance available from the 5720A calibrator is 100 MΩ.
In order to minimize connection changes it is recommended that all adjustments using the
1 GΩ Standard resistor are performed together after all other resistance points.
