N.B. It is strictly forbidden to connect any inter-
changeable attachment not in compliance with the
safety and health regulations in force and therefore
without the «EC» («CE») brand.
It is better not to use accessories that are not
approved by the manufacturer, under penalty of
warranty voiding.
4.1.5 PRELIMINARY CHECKS
Beforestartingwork:
- Makesurethatthereistheoilinthechangegear
andcheckitslevel(pleasemakereferencetosec-
tion5.3-Maintenanceofthemachine).
-Checkwiththeclutchlever(7Fig.1),inthelow-
eredpositionrestingontheknob,theclutchlever
(5Fig.4),almostattheheadofthescrew(3Fig
4).Aproperdistanceisbetween0.5and2mmat
maximum.
If necessary actontheclutchcable adjustment
screw(2Fig.4).
-Checkthetightnessofallthescrews.
WARNING
The engine does not have lubricant. Before starting
the engine, it is necessary to read the instructions
reported in the engine instructions manual and ll
it with the right type and quantity of oil.
4.2 STARTING
Beforeworkingandstartingtheengine,always
check:
- theengineoilisatlevel(makereferencetothe
engineinstructionsmanual);
- theengineairlterisclean;
- thetankhasenoughfuel.
Asforthefueltype, makereferencetotheengine
instructionsmanual.
Thefueltankisplacedontheengine.
DANGER
Do not refuel the machine near sparks, lighted
cigarettes or whatsoever res.
Always shut the engine off before removing the tank
cap and wait till it is cool enough.
Before restarting the machine, check that there
are no oil or fuel leaks; otherwise, clean them
thoroughly and wipe them. If some fuel is spilled
on the machine parts, wipe it immediately. The fuel
tank shall not be lled up to the full capacity of the
tank to prevent overow.
Aftersendingawaybystanderswithinthemachine
workingrange,ifany,startthemachineaccordingto
thefollowingprocedure:
GASOLINE ENGINES
1) Check that the supplementary engine on/off
switch(2Fig.5)-ifavailable-is«ON».
2)Positionthegearrod(12Fig.1)andpowertake-
off(11Fig.1)inneutral.
3)Positiontheacceleratorlever(9Fig.1)atabout
midstroke.
Checkthattheclutchcontrollever(7Fig.1)isin
theverticalposition.
4) Go to the machine side,taketheenginerecoil
rope(14Fig.1)andslowlypullittillyoufeelits
stop.Then,pulltheropestronglyandrapidly.
DIESEL ENGINES
1)Makesurethattheleverisloweredofftheengine
restingonthebaseofthestand(B16Fig.1).
2)Placetherodinneutralgear(11Fig1)andPTO
(12Fig1).
3)Positionthethrottlecontrollever(9Fig.1),allthe
wayforwardasitwillgo.
Makesuretheclutchlever(7Fig.1)isinthever-
ticalposition.
4) Go to the machine side,taketheenginerecoil
rope(14Fig.1)andslowlypullittillyoufeelits
stop.Then,pulltheropestronglyandrapidly.
CAUTION
For engines equipped with decompressor (de-
tectitslocationbytheinstructionmanualofthe
engine),beforepullingwithasharpjerkandde-
cidedtolowerthedecompressionleverthatwill
riseupandwillturnoffautomaticallyoncethe
enginestarts.
Formotorswithdecompressor,itisrecommend-
edthattheengineiscold,pullthestartercord4-5
timeswiththedecompressionleverhelddown,
makingidlingtheengine.
Then release the decompressionlever,pullthe
startercordslowlyuntilthereisresistance,low-
erthedecompressionleverandpullwithajerk
stronganddecisive.
Theenginesareequippedwithrecoilstarterthat
allowspullingtheropebutthatwhentheengine
starts,itdisconnectssotoavoidpullsandkicks
backfortheoperator.
