Collecting a traffic capture from a FON-x80 series IP phone
To help you troubleshoot issues with a FON-x80 series IP phone, you can collect a traffic capture.
Before you begin
l
To collect a traffic capture, you have access to a web browser installed on a computer that is on the same network
as the registered FON-x80 series IP phone.
l
To view a traffic capture file, you have access to a network protocol analyzer software (such as Wireshark).
l
The traffic capture file size has a maximum of 10 MB.
Procedure steps
1. On your FON-x80 series IPphone, determine its IP address:
a.
Press the Menu soft key or press the button.
b. Use the navigation keys to select Status.
c. On the General tab, take note of the IP address.
2. On your computer, start a web browser and type:
https://<ip_address>
Where <ip_address> is the IP address of the FON-x80 series IP phone.

The web browser displays a Warning:Potential Security Risk Ahead, accept the risk by clicking Advanced, and
then clicking Accept the Risk and Continue.

In Name, enter admin.
5.
In Password, enter the enter the administrator password. The default password is 23646.
6.
If you want the portal to remember your login credentials and use them the next time you log in, click Remember
me.
7.
Click Log In.
8.
Click Tool.
9.
In Traffic Capture, edit the following settings:
a.
In Duration, update the settings to specify how long you want the traffic capture to be performed.
b.
You can add an IP Address for a specific unit. So, if you want to capture the traffic data from the FortiVoice unit
to the IP phone only, then enter the IP address of the FortiVoice unit. If you leave the IP Address blank, then
the capture will include all traffic to and from the IP phone.
c. In Capture Type, select one of the following options:
l
Use Protocol: To capture TCP, UDP, or Any traffic. You can also specify a Port.
l
SIP:To capture SIPtraffic only.
