TheKEQ08A11AModelisequippedwitha1.15kw(@115Volts)HeatingElement.
Theheatingelementcontainsafuselinkandaheaterlimitswitch.Thefuselinkisinserieswiththepowersupplyandwill
openandinterruptthepowerwhenthetemperaturereaches199°Forashortcircuitoccursintheheatingelement.Oncethe
fuselinkseparates,anewheaterelementmustbeinstalled.
NOTE:Alwaysreplaceheatingelementwiththeexactreplacement.
Theheaterelementhasahighlimitcontrol.Thiscontrolisabimetalthermostatmountedinthetopoftheheatingelement.
Shouldthefanmotorfailorlterbecomeclogged,thehighlimitcontrolwillopenandinterruptpowertotheheaterbefore
reachinganunsafetemperaturecondition.
Thecontrolisdesignedtoopenat110°F±6°F.Testcontinuitybelow110°Forwhenitiscooledoff.
TESTING THE HEATING ELEMENT
Testingoftheelementscanbemadewithanohmmeteracrosstheterminalsaftertheconnectingwireshavebeenremoved.
Acoldresistancereadingofapproximately10.11ohmsforthe1.15KWheatershouldberegistered.
DRAIN PAN VALVE
Duringthecoolingmodeofoperation,condensatewhichcollectsinthedrainpanispickedupbythecon-denserfanbladeand
sprayedontothecondensercoil.Thisassistsincoolingtherefrigerantplusevaporatingthewater.
Duringtheheatingmodeofoperation,itisnecessarythatwaterberemovedtopreventitfromfreezingduringcoldoutside
temperatures.Thiscouldcausethecon-denserfanbladetofreezeintheaccumulatedwaterandpreventitfromturning.
Toprovideameansofdrainingthiswater,abellowstypedrainvalveisinstalledoveradrainopeninginthebasepan.
Thisvalveistemperaturesensitiveandwillopenwhentheoutsidetemperaturereaches40°F.Thevalvewillclosegraduallyas
thetemperaturerisesabove40°Ftofullycloseat60°F.

To provide a means of draining this water, a bellows type
drainvalveisinstalledoveradrainopeninginthebasepan.
This valve is temperature sensitive and will open when the
outsidetemperaturereaches40°F.Thevalvewillclose
graduallyasthetemperaturerisesabove40°Ftofullyclose
at60°F.
