Your notebook has a variety of security functions that you can use to protect your
system and your personal data from unauthorized access.
This chapter explains how to use these functions, and wh at the benefits are.
Please remember that in some cases, for example, forgetting your password,
you may be locked out of the system and unable to access y our data.
Therefore, please note the following information:
• Make regular backups to external opt ical disks such as externa l hard
drives, CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray Discs.
• Some security functio
ns need you to choose passwords. Make a note
of the passwords and ke
eptheminasafeplace.
If you forget your passwords you will need to contact our Service Desk.
Deletion or resetting of passwords are not covered b y your warranty
and a charge will be ma de for assistance.
In the BIOS setup utility menu Security, if you alter the Password Severity setting from
itsdeliverystatusofStrong to Stringent, the Fujitsu Service Desk will no longer be able
to reset the password. The system may then rema in unusuable indefinitely.
Fujitsu therefore recommends always setting up a Su pervisor password
with the setting of Password Severity = Strong.
Configuring the fingerprint sensor

Whether your device has a fingerprint sensor or not depe nds on the
device configuration which you ordered.
The ordered configuration cannot b e chang ed, i.e. A fingerprint sensor
cannot be retrofitted. Furthermore, only one configuration option can be
ordered, a fin gerprint sensor or a palm vein scanner.
The finge rprint sensor can record the image of a fingerprint. With additional fingerprint
software, this image c an be processed and used instead of a password.

► Install the fingerprint software Work
Place Protect, in order to use the
fingerprint sensor (1).
Work Place Protect can be found under Fujitsu Bonus Apps. You will find the
shortcut under Start - Fujitsu Extras - Application. Double-click on the shortcut. A
window with a selection of apps appears. Select Work Place Protect and install the
app. You can also fi nd the software on the Fujitsu S up port site.
