SIGMETS AND AIRMETS
SIGMETs (SIGnificant METeorological Information) and AIRMETs (AIRmen’s
METeorological Information) are broadcast for potentially hazardous weather
considered of extreme importance to all aircraft. A Convective SIGMET is issued for
hazardous convective weather. A localized SIGMET is a significant weather condition
occurring at a localized geographical position.

TEMPORARY FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS (TFRS)
Temporary Flight Restrictions or TFRs temporarily restrict all aircraft from entering
the selected airspace unless a waiver has been issued. TFRs are routinely issued for
occurrences such as sporting events, dignitary visits, military depots and forest fires.
TFRs are represented as an area highlighted by red (active) or yellow (not yet active).
