GatesAir PTR-255 Program Audio Codec Module
Intraplex Products Issue 2.1, February 2006
23
The number of time slots required is determined by the Data Rate setting for each direction of
transmission; for example, a 64 kbps data rate would use one time slot, 128 kbps would use two
time slots and so on. Whatever the data rate selected, information is placed into contiguous time
slots starting at the specified point (skipping time slot 16 in an E1 shelf if CAS is selected).
The following table lists the settings for starting time slot selection; the TTS switches control the
transmit side and the RTS switches the receive side. The TOF and ROF switches are for future
use and should all be left in the up (off) position.
In addition to the time slots listed in this table as illegal, some additional higher-numbered
settings will also be unusable, depending on the number of time slots required for the selected
data rate. For example, if the card is set to transmit at 384 kbps (six time slots), the highest legal
starting time slot would be 19 in a T1 system and 26 in an E1 system.
In an ISDN system, the only allowable time slot selections are 1 and 2.
