GatesAir PTR-255 Program Audio Codec Module
Intraplex Products Issue 2.1, February 2006

6 Installation
Refer to the figures and tables in Section 3 as necessary during this procedure.
Power supply and time slot considerations may affect the installation of a channel module into an
existing multiplexer shelf. Refer to the sections on Channel Module Configuration Rules and
Adding Channel Modules to Existing Systems in your multiplexer operation manual for more
information.
6.1 Inspection
Inspect the module for shipping damage. If you suspect damage to the module, call Intraplex
Customer Service at (978) 486-9000.
6.2 Installation Procedure
1. Choose an unused physical slot in the Intraplex Multiplexer for installation of this
module. If you will be using the MA-556, choose two adjacent physical slots.
2. Set the audio input impedance jumpers JMP1 and JMP2 on the MA-555: IN PLACE
for 600, REMOVED for >10K, as shown on Figure 5-2. The factory default setting
is >10K.
Note: To get access to these jumpers on the MA-556, separate the two circuit boards by
unscrewing them from the mounting bracket.
3. Install the MA-555 or MA-556 at the rear of the slot where you intend to mount this
module, as described in the previous section.
4. Set the address for the PTR-255 using the SCB ADDRESS switch bank, as described
in Table 3-6.
5. To complete the installation, the card must be configured for the desired performance
parameters. The following two sections describe how to do this either manually using
the switches on the card or remotely using the IntraGuide™ configuration software.
6.2.1 Manual Configuration Procedure
1. Set the module for local operation by setting the REMOTE switch up.
2. Set the module to transmit/receive via a Terminal/DI-A port or a DI-B port using the
TERM switch. See Section 2.10, Drop and Insert Operation, for details.
3. If the card is in a 2 MB multiplexer using CAS signaling, set the CAS switch on.
