GatesAir PTR-255 Program Audio Codec Module
Intraplex Products Issue 2.1, February 2006
4. Select the transmit and receive coding algorithms using the TALGR and RALGR
switches, as described in Table 3-1.
5. Set the transmit and receive audio transmission modes using the TMOD and RMOD
switches as described in Table 3-2.
6. If the transmission algorithm is MPEG2 or MPEG3, select the sample rate using the
TSR and RSR switches as described in Table 3-3.
7. Select the transmit and receive data rates using the TDR and RDR switches, as
described in Table 3-4.
8. Select the transmit and receive starting time slots using the TTS and RTS switches, as
described in Table 3-7.
!!! IMPORTANT
The card will not operate if the combination of data rate and starting time slot switch settings
create a configuration error. See Section 4.3, Configuration Errors, for details.
9. If the AES/EBU output of the card will be used, select the desired output sample rate
using the FS48 switch: up for 32 ksps, down for 48 ksps. Also select the output format
using the PRO switch: up for consumer format, down for professional format.
10. Select the input format for the card using the AESEBU switch: up for analog input,
down for AES/EBU input.
11. If the card is being installed in an ISDN multiplexer and is set to transmit MPEG audio,
set the IMUX1 and IMUX0 switches to match the chosen algorithm: for MPEG2 set
both switches down; for MPEG3 set IMUX1 down and IMUX0 up.
12. If the card is being installed in any non-ISDN multiplexer (T1, E1 or VRM) or is being
installed in an ISDN multiplexer but is not set to transmit MPEG audio, make sure that
both the IMUX1 and IMUX0 switches are in the up (off) position.
13. Select the baud rate for the auxiliary data channel using the three BAUD switches, as
described in Table 3-8.
14. If desired, adjust the input sensitivity and output gain for each channel using the gain
switches, as described in Section 3.6, Programmable Gain Switches. The default setting
is position B for all four switches, which sets the maximum input level at +20 dBu and
the output gain to +20 dBu at digital full scale.
15. Verify that service is turned on for the card (OFF switch is up).
16. Insert the module into the selected slot in the multiplexer shelf, making sure it is the slot
which mates with the MA-555 (or the audio connector side of the MA-556).
