7 Testing and Troubleshooting
When the PTR-255 has been configured and installed, test it for proper operation before putting it
into service.
7.1 Test Procedure
Use the following procedure to test the PT-255 module:
1. Connect the output of an external audio test tone generator (Hewlett-Packard HP4935A
or equivalent) to the audio input jack for the left channel.
2. Set the test tone generator to generate a 1004 Hz tone at +8.0 dBm.
3. Verify that the Tx GAIN switches are set to position B (the factory default).
4. Observe the transmit level indicator LEDs for the channel under test. The first two
green LEDs should be lit.
5. Activate the local loopback on the card setting the LOOP0 switch down.
4. Observe the receive level indicator LEDs for the channel under test. The first two green
LEDs should be lit.
7. Check that the SYNC and LOCK indicators are lit.
8. Repeat Steps 1 - 7 on the right channel.
9. Turn off the test generator and disconnect it from the input jack.
10. Deactivate the loopback. The card is now operational.
