4 Status and Diagnostics
The PTR-255 contains several LED status indicators and also offers local and remote loopback
capability for diagnostic testing.
4.1 LED Indicators

The receiver is synchronized and ready to decode
audio.
-24, -18, -12, -6 and 0 dB relative to full scale,
respectively. Accurate to 0.5 dB.
Transmitter is sending data.
On when a local loopback is active; blinks when a
remote loopback is active.
Service for the card is ON.
Blinks if a configuration error is present (see
Section 4.3, Configuration Errors, for details).
4.2 Loopbacks
Loopbacks allow the user to insert audio and data into the PTR-255 and bring it back out at the
same location for testing. The PTR-255 provides two loopback options, local and network. Each
of these is useful for testing different parts of the system, as described below. The loopbacks
work on the audio channel(s) only; the auxiliary data channel is not looped back.
Do not turn on either loopback while the card is transmitting “live” audio, as starting a loopback
will disrupt the audio transmission for about one second.
