X Menu (Transmitter)
WIDTH
Used to set the square wave pulse width to tune the transducer. Settable
with steps from 1 or 12ns, from a minimum of 30 (spike) to a maximum
of 2000ns. Normally it is set to couple the transducer frequency to half
of its wave length. So the rated setting should be:
500kHz 1000ns
1MHz 500ns
2.25MHz 250ns
5MHz 100ns
10MHz 50ns
15MHz 30ns
Wide 30ns
Set this parameter to optimize the echo form and amplitude.
EDGE
Used to change the ActiveEdge™ parameter.
VOLTS
RDG600: The transmitter voltage cannot be changed and is equal to
200V.
RDG700: Option used to switch the transmitter voltage from a minimum
of 100V to a maximum of 350V in steps of 50V.
RDG800: Option used to switch the transmitter voltage from a minimum
of 100 to a maximum of 450V in steps of 50V. It is important to note
that if it is set on 400V the pulse width is limited to a minimum of
100ns.
PRF MAX
Used to set the maximum pulse repetition frequency (PRF) which can be
reduced for high field and delay values. Values can be selected from 35
to 100 with steps of 5Hz, from 100 to 1000 with steps of 50Hz and from
1000 to 5000 with steps of 100Hz. Low PRF values reduce the
phenomenon of phantom echoes.
N.B.: This TX menu is only present for the RDG700 and RDG800 instruments. The PRF MAX parameter for
RDG600 is in the RX menu described above.
N.B.: the transmitter is supplied with a protection circuit for overloads which controls the output power. If
the output overloads a warning message appears on the display.
In this case it is necessary to reduce the 4#"+ and,*- parameter values or decrease.$". The overload
does not damage the instrument, but the output voltage needs to be decreased nevertheless.
