ATE1 and GATE2 Menu
There are two gates (monitors) on the instrument with slightly different options based on the gate and
selected measurement mode. The settings available for each gate are described below.
STATE
Set the gate status according to one of the following modes:
ON +VE: The alarm is enabled when an echo inside the gate exceeds the
set level.
ON -VE: The alarm is enabled when an echo inside the gate falls below
the set level. Normally used to monitor backwall echo loss.
LENS: Full screen expansion of the gate operating field. Option
applicable to Gate 1 only.
OFF: Disables the gate.
ON- DLY: This additional gate status (available only for Gate 2) sets a
600 millisecond delay on the alarm. It requires that the signal
is lost by the gate for a continuous period of 600 milliseconds
before the alarm is enabled. This option involves the alarm
LED, buzzer and external output via the proportional output
connector.
START
Used to set the starting position of the gate on the time scale.
The units of measurement which can be set are millimeters or inches and
the range starts at zero to the end of the time base.
WIDTH
Used to set the gate width. The units of measurement which can be set are
millimeters or inches and the range starts at 0.15mm (0.25mm for
RDG600) to the end of the time base.
LEVEL
Used to set the alarm level, which corresponds to the vertical height on the
A-Scan display. It can be set in steps from 0.5% to 2%, from 0% to 100%
of the screen height.
11.3.5 A-CAL Menu
This menu is used to automatically calibrate the full scale, i.e. automatically calculate the material velocity
and the probe zero value using the two backwall echoes as reference. The instrument performs the reading
via gate1 on the selected echo.
DIST1
Represents the indication to provide the instrument related to the path of the
first of the two echoes to take into account for performing the automatic
calibration procedure.
DIST2
Represents the indication to provide the instrument related to the path of the
second of the two echoes to take into account for performing the automatic
calibration procedure.
