EASUREMENT Menu
The menus present in this section are used to configure the various measurement techniques made available
by the instrument. These menus include the general measurement set-up and the specialist methods such as
DAC, AVG, TCG, AWS and API. You can access the MEAS menu at any time by pressing the key.
11.4.1 Measurement Menu
In the Measurement menu, the selection box on the upper right is used to set the measurement mode, while
the remaining three boxes vary when the preset mode is changed.
MODE:
MONITOR
In this mode the Gates 1 and 2 act as two independent monitors, activating
only the related visual and/or acoustic alarm when a signal reaches or
exceeds the level of the gate.
MODE:
DEPTH
In this mode Gate1 acts as a depth or thickness monitor and displays the
distance (D:) and amplitude (H:) of the first signal present after the start of
the gate which reaches or exceeds the level of the gate. These values are
displayed in a box located below the A-Scan display.
TRIGGER
Used to select the type of gate triggering: FLANK(extreme left) triggers on
the front of the first echo which exceeds the gate, while PEAK triggers on
the echo with the greatest amplitude.
When enabled a window appears on the upper right of the display where
the digital data is available. The

hen this is enabled, the distance and thickness reading are frozen at the
minimum measured value. To reset it is necessary to turn to OFF and then
to ON again. This option is only available in READ mode.
MODE:
ECHO-ECH

In this mode Gate1 acts as a thickness monitor and measures the thickness
between the first signal in the gate and the second signal in the gate which
reaches or exceeds the set level. A second horizontal like is displayed
which represents the blanking (see the following item).
BLANK
This function is used to set the blanking (space), i.e. an area after the first
echo which does not perform measurements and after which a second echo
can be measured. It is set as a percentage of total gate length.
MODE:
G1-G2
This mode is similar in concept to the ECHO-ECHO mode, but it uses
Gate 1 and 2 in completely independent mode. This operating mode is
only available for models RDG700 and RDG800.
