Safety
FIG. 17: Never allow anyone around the header or the
feeder when the engine is running. Personnel can
become entangled in the moving parts of the header or
feeder, or be pulled in to the feeding mechanism of the
combine.
Stay clear of any cutting or gathering devices on the
header as these devices can cause serious injury or
death.
FIG. 18: Always stop the combine engine before
refueling. Do not smoke while refueling.
TRANSPORTING COMBINE ON PUBLIC
ROADS
FIG. 19: Consult your local law enforcement agency for
local regulations regarding movement of farm equipment
on public roads.
Use headlights, flashing warning lights, taillights and turn
signals, day and night, unless prohibited by local law.
Make sure lights, reflectors and SMV emblem (if required)
are installed, in good condition and wiped clean.
Lock brake pedals together with the locking strap so that
both front wheel brakes will be applied simultaneously.
Engage the transport switch located in the right-hand
console.
Be aware of other traffic on the road. Keep well over to
your own side of the road and pull over, whenever
possible, to let faster traffic pass.
Adjust travel speed to maintain control at all times. Never
allow combine to coast down hills.
