IV.c Pulleys
 Verify that pivots and pulley bearings don’t make noise or abnormal vibrations, otherwise clean
and grease them.
 Verify that the grooves of the pulleys have not been worn or deformed by the old rope.
 Verify the alignment and the position of the pulleys.

Verify that the protection devices are present, properly installed and working
V. M ACHINES ROOM
V.a Electrical safety devices
 Verify, on the control panel, that the safety chain is closed.
 Verify that fuses are suitable for the circuit to be protected.
 Verify that all installed safety devices and safety contacts are functioning, free in their
movements and if necessary lubricated (see list in Appendix 4.2).
V.b Motor protections

Verify the efficiency of the motor protections.
V.c Control panel and its components
 Verify that the control panel and its components are dry, clean and properly insulated and
grounded.
V.d Electric wiring
 Verify that all the electric wires are clean, not corroded and in good condition
 Verify the correct cable insulation by performing the tests as described in the manual of the
control panel.
V.e Devices to detect the unintended movements (A3) [EN81-20 §6.3.13]
 Verify that the unintended car movement detection devices (A3) work properly by performing
the necessary tests, controls and measurements.

(Refer to the instructions of the control panel and / or of the valve / machine manuals).
VI. M ACHINES : E LECTRICAL
VI.a Drive motor
 Verify that bearings and / or brass are not worn
 Verify that the lubricating parts of the motor are properly lubricated

Verify that the electrical contacts are clean, in good condition and working properly.
VI.b Gear box
 Verify that the belts are not worn, cracked, or have abrasion marks

Verify that the belts have regular and easy movements and that they are properly in tension.
VI.c Brakes
 Verify the correct working of the braking device.
 Verify that the braking parts are not worn.

Verify that the car stops at landings with the required precision.
VI.d Traction sheave
 Verify that pivots and pulley bearings don’t make noise or abnormal vibrations, otherwise clean
and grease them.
 Verify that the grooves of the pulleys have not been worn or deformed by the old rope.
 Verify the alignment and the position of the pulleys.

Verify that the guarding is present, properly installed and working.
