Pump Supply Pressure
Purpose: The chiller uses a centrifugal pump. For the pump to run properly it needs some restriction
in the piping system to push against the pump and generate pressure. If this does not happen the
chiller may stop and show a fault. To correct this, follow the procedure below.
1. Chillers that include a model CM5-4 pump have an internal ball valve for this purpose.
On the OPC5, OPC8, OPC12, and OPC15, the ball valve is located on a length of hose
between the evaporator outlet and the tank.
On the OPC16 and OPC24, the ball valve is located inside the chiller immediately at the
return fluid connection. The ball valve may be wrapped in insulation and the handle is
removed.
2. Start by closing this valve approximately halfway so it is at a 45° angle
3. Cycle the ON/OFF switch on the chiller
4. Observe the pump supply pressure on the controller display
5. Close the ball to achieve the target pump supply pressure according to the chiller and pump
model.

6. Continue cycling the ON/OFF switch and adjusting the valve until you achieve this target
