Search Mode
In the EPC9, this mode has no special analog circuitry. Rather, it is a software
emulation of the traditional search mode found in the EPC7 amplifier. The EPC7
accomplished the search mode by analog circuitry in order to ease the adjustment of
the zero-current potential V
0
. The EPC9 does not require special analog circuitry, as
the software provides for an easy way of doing this. The Search mode of the EPC9
simply forces V-hold to 0 mV and invokes the Auto-V
0
procedure (at the rate specified
by Search Mode Delay in the EPC9 menu), which will adjust the offset potential
automatically in order to zero the current. Thus, the search mode is simply a
repetitive update of V
0
.
