Free play adjustment
Excessive valve clearance will cause noise,
and little or no clearance will prevent the
valve from closing and cause valve damage
and power loss. Check valve clearance at
the specified intervals (page 30).
VALVE CLEARANCE
Refer to the safety precaution on page-29.
Cable inspection
Check for smooth rotation of the throttle
grip from the fully open to the fully closed
position. Check at full left and full right
steering positions. Inspect the condition of
the throttle cable from the throttle grip
down to the throttle body. If the cable is
kinked, chafed or improperly routed, it
should be replaced or rerouted. Standard
throttle grip free play (1) is approximately
2-6 mm of grip rotation.
