2. Remove the seat (page 16).
4. Ensure the battery leads are properly
connected to the battery terminals
during installation.
Battery removal
1. Make sure the ignition switch is "O FF"
6. Pullout the battery from the battery box.
1. Reinstall in the reverse order of removal.
Be sure to connect the positive (+) terminal
first, then the negative (-) terminal.
4. Remove the battery clamp bolt.
2. Check all bolts and other fasteners are secure.
5. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal lead
from the battery first, then disconnect the
positive (+) terminal lead.
3. Remove the right side cover screws
and remove the side cover.
Battery installation
STOP LAMP SWITCH
The stop lamp switch (1) must be adjusted so
that stop lamp will glow when rear brake is
applied. Rear brake free play (page 45)
should be adjusted before performing stop
lamp switch adjustment. The procedure
battery clamp (2). The specified fuses are 15 A
and 10 A (3) with spare fuses 15 A and 10 A (4).
Fuse holder (5) Location : Over the solenoid
switch adjacent to battery.
The specified fuse is 20 A (6) with a spare
fuse 20 A (7).

Battery gives off explosive gases. Keep
sparks, flames & cigarettes away.
Never use a fuse with a different rating
from that specified. It may lead to
serious damage to the electrical system
or a fire due to short circuit.
Turn the ignition switch "OFF" before
checking or replacing the fuse to
prevent accidental short-circuiting.
Do not attempt to start or ride the
motorcycle without a charged battery, it can
cause fusing of the bulbs and permanent
damage to certain electrical components.
