Handling the Instrument
Handling the Clamp Sensor
Handling the Cables
• To avoid damage to the instrument, protect it from physical
shock when transporting and handling. Be especially careful to
avoid physical shock from dropping.
• This instrument may cause interference if used in residential
areas. Such use m
ust be avoided unless the user takes special
measures to reduce electromagnetic emissions to prevent inter-
ference to the reception of radio an
d television
broadcasts.
To avoid short circuits and potentially life-threatening haz-
ards, never attach the clamp to a circuit that
operates at more
than maximum rated voltage to earth, or over bare conduc-
tors.
• Be careful to avoid dropping the clamps or otherwise subjecting
them to mechanical shock, which could damage the mating sur-
faces of the core and adversely affect measurement.
• Keep the clamp jaws and core slits free from foreign objects,
which cou
ld interfere with clamping action.
• Keep the clamp closed when not in use, to avoid accumulating
dust or dirt on
the ma
ting core surfaces, which could interfere
with clamp performance.
To prevent cable damage, do not step on cables or pinch them
between other objects. Do not bend or pull on cables at their base.
