8.36 Masquerading NAT
The Masquerading NAT process hides any number of devices behind the IP
address of the NAT router and thus hides the structure of a network from
other networks. To do this, the NAT router replaces the sender address in the
data packet with its own IP address. In addition, the NAT router replaces the
source port in the data packet with its own value in order to send the
response data packets back to the original sender at a later point.
