Question: How do I clear all or portions of memory?
Answer: .1 CLEAR I clears the calculator line . • 1 CLEAR ALL I clears vari-
ous portions of memory, depending on which menu the HP-18C is
displaying . (Look up 1 CLEAR ALL I in the subject index for a list of page
references.) Erasing the entire contents of memory is covered in
Erasing Continuous Memory on page 188.
Question: Why am I getting the wrong answer using the TVM menu?
Answer: Before beginning a TVM calculation, be sure to clear the
TVM variables ( .1 CLEAR ALL I) set the appropriate payment mode
(mortgages and loans are typically End mode calculations), and spec-
ify
the number of payments per year ...
Question: How do I indicate multiplication in a formula typed into
the solver?
Answer: You must use the multiplication sign (0) on the right side
of the keyboard. You cannot use the [K] letter key to indicate
mul tiplica tion .
Question: How do I type a comma in alpha mode?
Answer: Press . 0 .
Question: My numbers contain commas instead of periods as deci-
mal points. How do I restore the periods?
Answer: Changing the decimal point is covered in Interchanging
the Period and Comma in Numbers on page 44.
Question: What does an HE" in a number (for example, 2.51E - 13)
mean?
Answer: The number is ver y large or very small. Refer to Scientific
Notation on page 44.
Question: The calculator has displayed the message
INSUFFICIHH ~lE~lORY. What should I do?
