The
HP-18C
recognizes
the
end
of
the
list
when
a flow is left
blank
(no value is entered).
Viewing and Editing
the
List
The
[!]
and
ITJ
keys
move
the
list
pointer
up
and
down
the
list
one
number
at
a time.
[!]
and
ITJ
move
the
pointer
to
the
beginning
and
end
of
the
list.
To
change
an
incorrect
number
after it's
been
entered
into
the
number
list:
1. Position
the
pointer
at
the
incorrect value.
2.
Key
in
the
correct value
and
press I INPUT
I.
To
add
a
cash
flow to
the
bottom
of
the
list,
move
the
pointer
to
the
bottom
of
the
list (press
C[}]
)
and
enter
the
value
and
#TIMES.
If
you leave
out
a
cash
flow, you
can
insert
it
at
its
proper
place.
You
can
also delete a
cash
flow.

and
deleting
numbers
is covered
in
chapter
7.

To
calculate
the
sum
of
the
cash
flows,
press

To
calculate
the
internal
rate
of
return,

The
HP-18C
calculates
the
periodic
rate
of
return.
To
calculate
the
annual
return,
multiply
the
periodic rate
by
the
number
of
periods
per
year
.

The
calculations for
internal
rate of
return
are complex
and
may
take a relatively long time.
To
halt
the
calculation, press
any
key. In certain cases,
the
HP-18C
displays a message
indicating
that
the
calculation
cannot
continue
without
further
information
from you,
or
that
there is
no
solution. Refer to
Appendix
B for
additional
information
about
calculating
