Planning the Installation
NOTE: Two unique extension sizes are available: 5 Unit (5U) and 10 Unit (10U). Two-drive models
such as the MSL6030/6026 are designated as 5U. Four-drive models such as the MSL6060/6052
are designated as 10U.
A PTM can be mounted into the following rack enclosures:
Compaq 7000/9000/10000 Series
AlphaServer H9A
HP rack system/e
Two PTM variations are available:
A factory-assembled PTM (base unit) that can be used to connect two 5U libraries (one master
and one slave).
The PTM base unit plus extensions with a combined length equal to the number of adjacent MSL
Series libraries installed in a rack enclosure.
For 5U libraries: one master and up to seven additional slaves.
For 10U libraries: one master and up to three additional slaves.
Any combination of MSL Series libraries not to exceed 40 U.
If PTM extensions are required, assemble the entire PTM system before installing it in a multi-unit
library configuration.
