Why Command View XP cannot access external LU in HP StorageWorks Storage?
    • R
      Ryan CallahanJul 31, 2025
The Command View XP management station or XP Remote Web Console might be unable to access the external LU due to several reasons. It could be due to a faulty Fibre Channel (FC) switch, improperly connected FC cables, changes in the external disk array configuration, errors with the external LU, changes in the path between the local and external disk arrays, the local disk array port attribute no longer being external, or incorrect topology information. In any of these cases, correct the error and retry the operation. If none of these are the problem, disconnect the cable between the local disk array and external disk array, and reconnect it. Retry the operation after 30 seconds.

What to do if the path to the external LU is blocked in HP StorageWorks Storage?
    • T
      Travis SnyderAug 4, 2025
If the path to the external LU is blocked, it could be due to an error that prevents Command View XP or XP Remote Web Console from accessing the external LU. To resolve this, check the possible reasons for access failure, correct the error, and retry the operation. Ensure that the cable between the local disk array and external disk array is connected properly. If the error persists, disconnect and reconnect the cable. After 30 seconds, check the path status from Command View XP or XP Remote Web Console. If these steps do not restore the path, save the HP disk array configuration information using FD Dump and contact your HP account support representative.

What does it mean if LDEV status is unknown in HP StorageWorks Storage?
    • M
      melanieortegaAug 9, 2025
The LDEV status may appear as Unknown in the Ex-Dev. Status column if the LDEV’s status cannot be determined because it does not exist, the LDEV was created when the volume was mapped, or the LDEV in the external LU was deleted by the Customized Volume function. If LDEV Status becomes Unknown by any reason other than above, contact you HP account support representative.

What to do if the HP Enclosure won’t slide into the rack?
    • J
      joneskevinAug 14, 2025
If the HP Enclosure won’t slide into the rack, first ensure that all pins in the cover are engaged in their respective slots and the latch is fully closed. Also, check that the rails are correctly installed in the rack's mounting bars, ensuring the unit is horizontal in all directions. The cause might be that the top cover is not fully engaged or there are rail alignment problems.

Why am I getting random data errors on the HP Enclosure tape drive?
    • E
      Eddie YangAug 20, 2025
If you're encountering random data errors on the tape drive with your HP Enclosure, the cause might be related to the SCSI bus configuration. Verify that the tape drive is connected to the SCSI port nearest the terminator at the end of the internal SCSI cable.

What to do if a SCSI ID conflict is detected on my HP Enclosure?
    • T
      Tiffany HughesAug 25, 2025
If a SCSI ID conflict is detected in your HP Enclosure, it might be because both tape drives are set to the same SCSI ID. Verify that each tape drive has a unique SCSI ID setting and that both tape drives have SCSI ID cables installed correctly.
