Removing the Battery PackUPS T1500 XR Models
To remove the battery pack:
1. Unfasten the plastic handle (1) and partially remove the battery pack (2).
2. Disconnect the battery cable by pressing the black tab on the connector (3) and pulling
apart (4).

3. Set the used battery pack aside for proper disposal. Refer to “Disposing of Used
Batteries,” in this chapter.
WARNING: If the UPS is not powered down, immediately replace the battery pack. Do
not allow terminal connections to contact conductive materials. Do not touch or bring
tools in close proximity to terminals.
Installing a New Battery Pack
To install a new battery pack, reverse the steps in “Removing the Battery Pack—
UPS T1000 XR Models” or “Removing the Battery Pack—UPS T1500 Models,” depending
on your UPS model. To reinstall the battery bracket, reverse the steps in “Removing the
Battery Bracket,” in this chapter.
WARNING: For T1000 XR models, connect the positive (red) battery lead before
connecting the negative (black) battery lead to reduce the risk of short-circuits or
arcing.
IMPORTANT: Check clearance on battery terminal connections when reinserting the battery pack into
the battery compartment.
