The SNMP enables up to four different community names to be defined. The
community name public is defined by default; you can change this name and add
others. You will need to coordinate these names with the community name settings
that you use in your network management system.
When you select Remote Management Setup on the main menu, the following
window opens.
You can set the following parameters:
IP Address
The IP address of the network management station to receive traps.
Community String
The community string that will be included on SNMP packets sent to and
from the switch. Any station that is not a member of this community will not
receive the packet.
Rights
Enables each community to be separately set to either Read (read-only),
meaning that the community member can only view switch settings or R/W
(read/write), which enables the member to change settings in the switch.
Status
Determines whether this community name entry is Enabled or Disabled.
To set up trap recipients, highlight SETUP TRAP RECEIVERS at the bottom of the
Remote Management Setup menu and press Enter.
