Optional Procedure to Determine PN Max Power
9. Continue to increase power in 1 dB units. Stop when one of the following occurs:
a. The total change in observed signal level is 1 dB less than the total
change in transmit
level
b. The difference between the main lobe and the side lobes becomes less than 20 dB
c. The total increase from the CW P1dB exceeds 6 dB and neither of the above
co
nditions is observed
Note: If the total increase from the CW P1dB is greater than 3
dB, ensure that the CW
P1dB was determined correctly in “Determining the 1 dB Compression Point” on
page87.
10. Record the Tr
ansmit Power setting at which one of the conditions in Step 9 occurred. The
Network Operator will enter this value as a custom key when setting
the powers in
iBuilder after initial acquisition. (See “Setting TDMA Initial Power and Maximum Power”
on page101.)
