16. Remove the Mini-USB cable from the U-Switch.
17. Reconnect the USB cables to the U-Switch with the power switched off.
18. Reconnect the power cord of the U-Switch.
The U-Switch validation will start automatically.
19. Click Finish.
The firmware update of the U-Switch is completed.
9.2.2 Updating the U-Switch Firmware via Copy & Paste
The U-Switch can be updated via copy & paste using the Mini-USB service port of the U-Switch. The firmware
type is part of the file name such as the MSD firmware the file extension .pfw, e.g., HUSWMSD.pfw.
Updating the firmware via copy & paste is usually not necessary. We recommend using the efficient flash
update via management software and to manually copy & paste if only a single firmware file should be
updated.
NOTICE
Possible failures when updating the firmware
In case the HUSWMSD and/or HUSWITCH firmware part of the U-Switch require an update, there may
be dependencies between the new contents of HUSWMSD and/or HUSWITCH firmware files and other
U-Switch firmware files. In this case, installing other firmware files before updating HUSWMSD and/or
HUSWITCH firmware files could lead to failed updates.
To proceed successful firmware updates:
Please check the release notes of the firmware package for dependencies between the U-Switch
firmware files.
If you got information from the manufacturer’s technical support that an update of HUSWMSD and/or
HUSWITCH firmware files of a U-Switch is required, please follow the instructions in this chapter.
By updating the HUSWMSD firmware via copy & paste, the
Config.txt will be overwritten. If there are
Config.txt, they are lost and have to be set again. To avoid resetting the
Store the Config.txt before updating the HUSWMSD firmware and copy the stored Config.txt
after updating the HUSWMSD firmware back to the flash drive of the U-Switch.
To achieve a successful firmware update, proceed as follows:
Update all firmware files sequentially.
First update the required HUSWMSD firmware.
Then update the required HUSWITCH firmware.
Then update all other firmware files one by one, file by file if necessary.
Wait between each copy process until the respective copy process has been completed.
Restart the U-Switch after all copy processes of other firmware files have been completed.
If required, the update files can be requested from the manufacturer’s technical support.
Preparation
We recommend using a central location for firmware file
s, e.g., by using the management software’s option
Extras > Options > Default Settings > Firmware Directory.
