Trouble: Message on the display, “The system cannot write to the specified device.”
Solution: This warning may be displayed in Windows XP after changing the display mode several times (e.g.,
Extend/Dock mode) from the DisplayLink GUI. If this happens, disconnect and reconnect the device to restore
normal operation.
Windows 7/Vista WDDM (Aero and Basic):
DisplayLink software works closely with the graphics card and there may be interoperability issues with some
graphics cards. If this happens:
1. Try to upgrade to the latest graphics drivers.
2. Try to upgrade to the latest DisplayLink software.
3. Report the issue via your support channel.
4. If necessary, boot into Safe Mode and use WindowsBackup and Restore Center to recover.
Windows XP:
When you select the full screen mode from the video window on web sites such as YouTube and Hulu. If in full
screen more, the second display (the DisplayLink based display) will not operate properly, turn off Hardware
acceleration by placing the cursor in the video window and right click the mouse to bring up properties; the
Properties will appear. Un-check Hardware acceleration and the issue will be resolved.

Macintosh:
This release does not support OpenGL acceleration (3D hardware acceleration), so applications and features
that require OpenGL, Quartz Extreme, Quartz Composer and other framework based on OpenGL will not be
fully supported. Examples of such features are Keynote Presentations, iPhoto Slideshows and iMovies.
