4.3.4 Nitrogen filling
As a rule:
- Use dry nitrogen only!
- Never replenish nitrogen if the valve is wet (water enters into the cutter)!
- Always screw on the valve cap after filling.
- Work with externally dry refilling fittings only!
- Refill nitrogen only in a dry environment!
The nitrogen internal pressure must be between 0.6 and 0.8 bar. This necessitates the use of
either the nitrogen equipment nor the automobile tyre charge fitting together with the valve
extender located in the accessory case, or the IMS nitrogen equipment (nitrogen cylinder
with pressure reducer and an IMS charger separately available as an option).
1.) Charging with a valve extension and local nitrogen equipment:
First, set the correct pressure at the pressure reducer (0.8 bar) and check it by briefly
attaching to the valve extender (not screwed on). The pressure must readjust itself to
0.8 bar once the valve extender has been removed. The cutter drive valve cap must
then be unscrewed and the valve extension screwed on
The filling device must be placed onto the nitrogen valve, then wait a few seconds, until
filling is completed. The charging device and valve extender can now be removed and
the valve cap screwed on.
2.) Charging with the optionally available IMS charger:
First, set the correct pressure at the pressure reducer (0.8 bar). by briefly depressing
the plunger on the charging device. The pressure dips briefly. The pressure must then
readjust itself to 0.8 bar. After this, unscrew the valve cap and place the charging
apparatus onto the valve. The charge process is completed after several seconds.
