D350 - Check weight counterbalance (X1 and X2)
Orientation
The weight counterbalance is a device on the machine that fulfills several functions.
It is used to relieve the load on the drives and ballscrews and it also prevents the
tool slide from falling down, should the belt break. To accommodate these forces, a
strongly pretensioned spring is installed into the tool slide in the X direction.
The spring must only be replaced by service personnel of the
machine manufacturer.
Procedure
1. Visual inspection of the spring. Check the spring for breakage, damage to the
guide bar or the housing.
2.
Record the level of pollution, such as chips, cooling lubricant
deposits and rust. Determine and eliminated the causes for this.
Be sure to clean and grease the spring. If a central lubrication system exists,
this can be omitted.
